Test cricket is the oldest and most traditional format of the game, dating back nearly 150 years. The very first official Test match was played in 1877 between England and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Since then, many more teams have joined the format, and today there are 12 nations that compete in Test cricket.

Among them, England and Australia — the pioneers of Test cricket — have played the most matches over the years.

Zimbabwe entered the world of Test cricket in 1992, playing their first match against India in Harare. Although they don’t compete regularly in this format, they’ve played a total of 128 Test matches since then. Out of those, Zimbabwe has won 14, lost 84, and drawn 30.

Bangladesh became the 10th Test-playing nation in the year 2000, making their debut in the format against India in Dhaka.
