Brendan Rodgers extends contract with Leicester City till 2025
Since winning the Premier League title in 2015-16, Leicester City have had their best start and are ahead of where they were(points tally) in the 2019-20 season. Brendan Rodgers had already proven himself with Celtic by winning successive trebles in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons respectively.
When it comes to managing Premier League teams Rodgers has had spells at Watford, Reading, Swansea City and Liverpool. His most successful campaign was with Liverpool where his squad stood second, behind Manchester City, in the 2013-14 season
Looking at the Foxes' current form, Rodgers can very well go on and match his exploits from the 2013-14 season.
His management has shown in a lot of enhanced individual performances, with biggest example being Jamie Vardy's return to top form. James Maddison, newly signed Ayoze Pérez and Caglar Soyuncu have also been immense for the Foxes under Rodgers.
The Northern Irishman has also helped Leicester in establishing themselves as a strong defensive
battalion. The defensive department has done some great work, resulting in seven clean sheets from the 15 games played.
That, is a pretty impressive number.
Leicester City stands currently at the second spot with 35 points, eight behind Rodgers' former club, Liverpool.
Rodgers was being considered for the vacant Arsenal manager spot post Unai Emery's sacking.
Any hopes that the Gunners had in getting the Northern Irishman on board are clearly gone now as Rodgers has signed a new deal with Leicester that will keep him on board till 2025.
When asked about this decision he said, "it is because of the direction the club was taking and how I could apply my experience to the journey. I came here with the purpose of adding something to that and to help the club build for the future. The support I have had from the chairman, from the chief executive, from the director of football and from everyone at the club has been amazing."
