The Haaland shooting star is here, BVB fans make a wish

Borussia Dortmund on Sunday, 29th December, 2019 announced her signing of teenage sensation Erling Haaland from RB Salzburg on a deal till 2024.

After months of speculation on his future due to his exciting performances both in the league and in the Champions league, the 19-year old inked his signature on Dortmund's books, bashing the hopes of Manchester United fans who thought that his relationship with manager and fellow Norwegian, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer and an extra trip to convince him would lure him to Old Trafford.

It was later reported that Manchester United cut the plug on a potential transfer because of the stringent and over-the-top demands of the player's agent, Mino Raiola and his father. Though a host of other clubs were reportedly after his signature, it was Dortmund who stole a march and secured his signature before the January transfer window was even opened.

Today, Friday 3rd January, 2020, Borussia Dortmund fans had the opportunity to see their new 17 million pound signing on his first day at the club training complex. He was all smiles as he made his way through the complex, talking a bit with manager, Lucien Favre before entering the physical training facility.

Borussia Dortmund fans would surely be very excited and expectant of the lad who scored 29 goals in 27 appearances for RB Salzburg after his move there in January 2019. Though the former FK Bryne and FK Molde player was signed for a relatively cheap amount considering current market inflation, BVB fans will no doubt want him to replicate the kind of class and form that saw him score eight goals in six Champions league matches this season.

He would be perfect competition for Paco Alcacer to lead the line for Die Schwarzgelben, after they had this season previously been without competition for Alcacer in attack.

Besides, Borussia Dortmund is the perfect place for young talents to fulfill their promise as the rise of Mario Gotze, Ousmane Dembele and Jadon Sancho has shown in recent years. He would be given the patience, support and training quality few clubs can provide, to help his development.

In addition, Dortmund has a knack for producing and nurturing world-class strikers with Robert Lewandowski and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang rising through their ranks to become the goalscoring machines they are today. Dortmund is also repairing the finishing boots of Paco Alcacer and Michy Batshuayi.

Their fans will therefore hope and and be confident that they can do the same with Haaland. He is no doubt a quality finisher with a goal per games ratio even Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi would be envious of, and he has shown he can do it on the big stage too with his starinrg performances in the Champions league.

The question, however, is if he can replicate this in a league as big as the Bundelisga and at a club as the stature of Borussia Dortmund.

All that said, he has the ability, the facilities and the stage to grow into one of the deadliest strikers world football has seen if he continues his current form. If at 19 he is already scoring goals for fun with his potential as high as Kylian Mbappe's, he and the Frenchman can continue in the steps of Ronaldo and Messi to be the next driving force of world football for the decade.

With this amazing and sensational teenage shooting star now on their books, BVB fans can now make their wishes on him to lead them to Bundesliga and Champions league glory in the very near future.
