Duncan Ferguson's Everton revival is on as Chelsea bite the dust

Goodison Park totally lit up with Everton’s performance, after struggling in the bottom three under Marco Silva. 

Everton displayed a strong character on the field, as they snatched away 3 points from the in-form, Chelsea squad. The scoreline was 3-1 , with the first ever brace for the Everton number nine for the club, Dominic Calvert-Lewin. 

However, as the match commenced, it was Richarlison, who put his side in front, in the fifth minute. The goal was assisted by Djibril Sidibe. Richarlison, now has scored in 3 consecutive games, proving his worth just after signing a new contract. 

Club legend, Duncan Ferguson, very emotional and passionate, after taking over Everton as a caretaker manager, took no time to express his immense affection for the club from the sidelines. Ferguson, was seen jumping on the sidelines, picking up mascots and most importantly getting the crowd behind the players.

The atmosphere at Goodison was phenomenal, credit to all the Everton players for displaying a solid execution of tactics. There were robust tackles, some brilliant saves and everything that a struggling side would have wanted at the moment. 

The first half ended after witnessing only one goal. Just after four minutes into the second half, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, doubled their lead. 

Chelsea, nevertheless, wasted no time to clinch a goal back in their favour, courtesy of a 52nd minute goal from Mateo Kovacic. But today was a day where Ferguson’s side just kept on coming. 

Another tactical brilliance from Ferguson was to bring back, Theo Walcott into the starting eleven. Walcott, in the game had a shot accuracy of 50% but caused bizarre problems for the Chelsea left-back, Cesar Azpilicueta. 

The Chelsea back four struggled to keep up with the Everton pace and in 84th minute, conceded the last and final goal, due to a misplaced pass by the Spanish keeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga. This goal marked Calvert-Lewin’s brace and ended the game, a beautiful one, with Everton climbing up three spots, to sit at the 15th position.

There were a lot of positives coming out of the game. However, one bad news was to see Lucas Digne, struggling to complete the entire 90 minutes and came off injured, which appears to be a groin injury. Everton travel to Old Trafford, next Sunday in what again is going to be a huge match for the club.
