FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup: India to face USA, Morocco, and Brazil in Group A
The U-17 Indian women’s team have been seeded in Group A at the FIFA U-17 World Cup, where they will play against Brazil, Morocco, and the United States.
The U-17 Indian women’s team will be participating in the FIFA World Cup for the first time as the host nation.
The host nation are underdogs in this tournament and are set to face heavy favorites for the competition. There are 4 groups and 16 teams overall.
Since the World Cup’s inception in 2008, just one country, Germany, has advanced to six straight finals.
The Indian women’s team, who are a dark horse, will be attempting to advance to this competition’s quarterfinals.
However, in all six FIFA World Cups, no host nation has ever made it past the group stage nor reached the semifinals.
The opening match of Team India’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup will take place on 11 Oct against the United States at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, and their second match will be played on 14 Oct against Morocco, while their final group match will take place on 17 Oct against Brazil.
The DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai and the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa are other locations, where the other games will take place.
DY Patil Stadium and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium will stage the quarterfinal matches (October 21–22), while Goa will feature in the semifinals (26 Oct). The Third Place Game and the Final will be contested at DY Patil on 30 Oct.
U-17 Indian women’s team are considered the underdogs in this tournament, and making their first appearance would offer India’s U-17 women’s football team a promising future.
