At a time when the Ronaldo's, Messi's, Rooney's of the world had the world's eyes on them for so long, an Unsung Legend of the game, Sunil Chhetri. The torch bearer of Indian football on both the global stage as well as in club colors recently hung up his boots. He decided to close a wonderful chapter of scoring for the blues and some other teams over the years.

As Chhetri says goodbye to the blue jersey, we take a look at all the clubs that he has played for in his career.

Mohun Bagan

Chhetri made his foray into the world of professional football in the colors of Green and Maroon of Mohun Bagan way back in 2002. He turned out 18 times for them and scored eight goals during his initial stay with the  Kolkata Giants. He re-joined Bagan in 2011 and went on to post pretty solid numbers scoring eight more goals in just 14 appearances.

JCT

The Veteran then joined the Punjab based  textile business backed JCT in 2005. He played 48 games for the club and scored 22 goals which also included a respectable tally of 12 goals in a single season.

East Bengal

For his next move, Chhetri pledged his alliances on the pitch to the Red and Gold Brigade in 2008. He made 17 appearances and scored nine goals in just one season with the iconic   Giants from Kolkata.

Dempo SC

He then moved  base to Dempo SC based out of Goa on a two-year deal and represented them in 13 games while  managing to put the ball into the back of the net eight times.

Kansas City Wizards

In 2010 came Chhetri’s and Indian football took a giant leap as he jumped on the chance to play overseas and was snapped up by Major League Soccer (MLS) side Kansas City Wizards. Although, he did not play in an official game for them , but was involved in a friendly match against English giants Manchester United.

Chirag United

Chhetri returned to India from his America chapter the following year and joined forces with yet another  West Bengal based club namely Chirag United. He only donned their colors for a handful of matches but ended up scoring seven goals for the side while he was there.

Sporting CP

Chhetri was once again packed up his bags, dusted off his passport and this time he headed towards the sunny side of Portugal in 2012. He was  added to the roster of the Portuguese outfit Sporting CP  but was only used for their reserve squad. He made three appearances for Sporting before returning to India.

Churchill Brothers

Sunil was then loaned out to the Goa based Churchill Brothers during his time with Sporting CP. He played 13 games for the eventual champion side that season and scored six goals for them in 2013.

Mumbai City FC

The Indian skipper was chosen by Mumbai City FC in the 2015 Indian Super League (ISL) season as their most expensive pick as an Indian player. He was with the now CFG satellite club for two seasons and played around 17 games but had a lukewarm turnout   accumulating seven goals and two assists.

Bengaluru FC

Bengaluru FC are undoubtedly  the place where he has seen the best form of his life as wheel as where he played his best football as he turned out like fine wine and delivered the goods across two stints no matter who the manager was or what the division was. He has been the face of the Blues for almost eleven seasons now and has represented them both in the I-league as well as the ISL. Chhetri is Bengaluru’s record goal scorer having scored 111 goals and provided 21 assists in 266 appearances across all competitions. Chettri has also won multiple accolades with the Blues, including the I-league and ISL titles.
