Manchester United want versatile Bundesliga forward Alassane Plea
Manchester United are said to be lining up a swoop for Borussia Monchengladbach star Alassane Plea as per reports in England.
Reports in England claim that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made contact with the French forward’s representatives over a move to Old Trafford this summer.
The 27-year-old joined Gladbach from Nice for around £20m in 2018 and has gone on to score 24 goals in 64 matches with the Frenchman’s latest strike came in Saturday’s 3-1 win at Eintracht Frankfurt. It is reckoned Plea would be available for just £25 million when the transfer window opens.
The Red Devils are understood to be on the hunt for a forward who can outrun defenders and Plea certainly ticks that box. The French international can play as both a striker and winger, and would add a different dimension to Solskjaer’s exciting front line.
However, the Red Devils may need to move quickly as Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham are also said to be interested in securing Plea’s services.
He isn’t the only Bundesliga player attracting admiring glances from Solskjaer, as reports claim that the Norwegian is also keen on Bayer Leverkusen’s £100 million rated playmaker Kai Havertz.
Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly also remains a long-term £70 million target despite being eyed by Liverpool in recent weeks.
And the 20-time champions of England could yet make a surprise move for Monaco left-back Fode Ballo-Toure as doubts grow over Luke Shaw’s long-term future.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils are also leading the chase for the signature of Borussia Dortmund sensation Jadon Sancho who has been phenomenal for the Bundesliga giants this campaign.
