It is a scintillating showdown between two highly-talented youngsters as the fourth seed Daniil Medvedev takes on fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semifinals of the Australian Open at Melbourne Park.
Daniil Medvedev did not face any trouble ousting his compatriot, Andrey Rublev 7-5 6-3 6-2 in the quarterfinals. The Russian smashed 14 aces and clinched 80% of his first-serve points. He will be playing his first-ever semifinal at the Australian Open.
"To win this match in three sets, especially with how physical it was, was an amazing level from me, I am really happy about it, we had some unbelievable rallies, I think the match was high quality," reflected Medvedev after his impressive win against Rublev.
On the other hand, Stefanos Tsitsipas made a spectacular comeback to stun second seed, Rafael Nadal, in five sets in the quarters. Down by two sets against the Spaniard, he was on the brink of defeat but summoned all his weapons to have the last laugh. His walkover against Matteo Berrettini who pulled out due to an abdominal injury in the fourth round of the tournament indirectly helped Tsitsipas as he used all his energy to down Nadal in the quarters.
“I have no words to describe what has just happened on the court, my tennis speaks for itself, I don’t know what happened after the third set, I flew like a bird and everything worked for me," said Tsitsipas mighty pleased after his come-from-behind victory against Rafa.
“Medvedev plays very well and has been very consistent, with lots of consecutive wins, I am looking forward to the match and each match I play here is an opportunity to play my best tennis, it will be amazing to see the crowds again," opined the Greek praising Medvedev and indicating his eagerness ahead of the big semifinal.

Medvedev vs Tsitsipas Prediction
A big generational shift is taking place in tennis with the young brigade denying the old guard their shot at glory. Medvedev and Tsitsipas have a strong future ahead with their fearless style of game.
While Medvedev will rely on his flat two-handed backhand, dependable return of serve, and strong defense to do the job, Tsitsipas will look to get the maximum number of winners with his powerful forehand and control the rallies from the baseline. His down-the-line backhand also needs to be in good touch.
The fans will be in for a treat as this match will surely go down to the wire with little to separate between the quality of the players.
