Mohamed Salah unhappy at Liverpool despite being in top form?

The news we never anticipated, news that seems untrue but reports have emerged that Mohamed Salah may be on a move away from Anfield in the coming months or a year, according to his former Egypt team-mate Mohamed Aboutrika.

Salah, who arrived at Anfield in 2017 wasted no time in breaking the headlines and records season by season. In three or slightly more than three seasons, Salah is already the Reds’ top scorer in the Champions League, surpassing Steven Gerrard, a godly figure for the Reds who spent over 10 years at the club.

As far as Salah is concerned, he didn’t rule out the possibility of a move away to Real Madrid or Barcelona during a recent interview with AS. Salah revealed that he was extremely disappointed after he was not handed the captain’s armband against Midtjylland earlier this month.

Aboutrika has represented Egypt in a ton of games and he said that the Liverpool star is not in the best of moods at Anfield. “I called Salah about his situation in Liverpool and he is upset, but that would never affect his performance on the field. I know Salah is not happy in Liverpool, he told me the reasons why he is not happy but they are secrets and I cannot talk about it in public,” he said while talking to beIN Sports.

The ex-Roma man joined the Reds for a reported £36.9m (€42m) in mid-2017 and he has already fired 116 goals in 187 appearances for Liverpool, including 16 that he’s managed so far this season in 21 games. With Salah, Liverpool won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and the Club World Cup and their maiden Premier League.

The question remains where would Salah end up? In the star-studded but struggling Los Blancos or the Catalans who are still not mentally prepared to let go of Lionel Messi? Considering the style of play Salah has, he can settle in both the squads and be as effective as he is in the Premier League.

However, everyone knows that the Liverpool midfield is more hardworking but they lack the creative aspects. Of course, with Thiago Alcantara arriving this season, things are expected to change but it is safe to say that a Real Madrid midfield or a Barcelona one could offer the Egyptian more.

There is another possibility which is no way a realistic one and that is the Reds extending Salah’s contract. However, if the Egyptian has his eyes on claiming the Ballon d’Or, a move to Spain would be more alluring.
