Premier League target set to be sold by Spanish giants

If reports in Spain are to be believed, two Premier League clubs are keen on prising Thomas Lemar away from Atletico Madrid this transfer window. 

And, the two clubs are understood to be Lemar's long term admirers, Arsenal as well as Wolverhampton Wanderers. The 24-year-old has flattered to deceive since joining the La Liga side from AS Monaco in 2018 for mega-money, with Diego Simeone keen to offload him. 

The World Cup winner with France in 2018 failed to produce a single goal or assist in 29 games in all competitions last campaign, prompting Atletico Madrid to put him up for sale. However, as per reports, the 24-year-old has two admirers in the Premier League but is only wanted on loan. 

It is stated that Atletico Madrid wants to cash in on the winger, but no clubs are prepared to spend big on the player who had two successive poor seasons at Wanda Metropolitano. The Frenchman moved to the Spanish capital club in a £62 million deal two years ago, but he has failed to live up to his hefty price tag. 

Should he be allowed to leave on loan, it is understood that Atletico Madrid will want an obligation to buy clause inserted in the deal. Arsenal had been linked with a move for Lemar earlier this summer, but it is unlikely he will be playing his football in North London. 

Meanwhile, it is believed that Lemar himself rejected an approach from Porto as he longs to play in the Premier League. It has been stated that both Wolves and Everton are both interested in securing his services but none are willing to take him on loan if there is an obligation to buy. 

Lemar was reportedly the subject of approaches from both Chelsea and London rivals Tottenham at the start of 2020. Manchester United have also been linked with Lemar in the past, with the Red Devils said to have met with his representatives in March.
