Real Madrid, Bayern Munich & Internazionale plan 'Solidarity Cup' in 2021
Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Internazionale will be contesting the European Solidarity Cup in 2021 with the aim of raising money for healthcare resources in Italy and Spain in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
The tournament is a way to express gratitude to healthcare workers who have been the strongest force in fighting this deadly virus. Spain and Italy have been the two most hardly-hit European nations during the COVID-19 outbreak recording a total of 27,709 and 32,007 deaths respectively. The outbreak has brought in severe changes across the world and especially in these countries in the last few months, with lockdown measures being eased very recently.
The three European giants will be playing matches next year to find out the winner of the cup but the main purpose still remains to aid the purchasing of healthcare supplies and express support to medical professionals for their work during the pandemic.
Fans will be hoping to be a part of this tournament as it will be played in each of the three cities.
A statement released by Real Madrid read, “Real Madrid are set to team up with Bayern Munich and Inter to host the European Solidarity Cup in 2021. The three clubs will come together to send out a message of solidarity and fraternity to the people of Europe.”
“The solidarity event will see three football matches held during 2021 in the cities of Madrid, Munich and Milan. The dates for these games will depend on the competitive calendar and of course, will take place when the fans can return to the stands.”
It is reported that Real Madrid vs Inter will take place in Madrid, Inter vs Bayern Munich will be held in Milan and Bayern vs Real Madrid will be held in Munich.
Healthcare staff, who continue to fight the pandemic will be represented at all of the games. The three clubs will demonstrate to these heroes all our solidarity, respect and gratitude.
