Real Madrid signs 22-year-old French sensation Aurelien Tchouameni from AS Monaco

The 2021/22 Champions League winners, Real Madrid have announced the signing of in-demand defensive midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni away from French side, AS Monaco.

Real Madrid and AS Monaco have agreed on the transfer of Aurelien Tchouameni, who will join the club on a 6-year deal for roughly 80 million euros, with the possibility of a bonus of up to 100 million euros.

This will make the French midfielder the second-highest earner after Antonio Rudiger, who also joined the Los Blancos from Chelsea as a free agent. 

On Tuesday, Aurelien Tchouameni will be unveiled as a Real Madrid player and will also interact with the media.   

Last year, Real Madrid held talks with the midfielder, but their interest waned as they focused on securing the services of Kylian Mbappe. Real's desire was renewed this year when they were unable to sign Kylian Mbappe. 

A slew of teams were fighting for the 22-year-old's signature, including PSG and Real Madrid, who were locked in a bidding war.

PSG utilised Kylian Mbappe to persuade him to join the club. However, the 22-year-old had already made up his mind, stating that he would only play for Real Madrid, and Monaco cooperated with the Spanish giants.

Aurelien Tchouameni: 4th Most Expensive Signing For Real Madrid 

Tchouameni is currently Real Madrid's fourth most expensive player, behind Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Eden Hazard, with a fee of roughly 80 million euros, with the possibility of going higher.

With Camavinga and Valverde already in place, his signing will give Real Madrid a lot of quality in the midfield. These three young players have been projected as successors of Modric, Kroos, and Casemiro.

What can Real Madrid expect from Aurelien Tchouameni? 

Adding Aurelien Tchouameni to Real Madrid's defensive midfield gives them another alternative since Casemiro has been the only consistent performer in that position.

Aurelien Tchouameni will take his position in midfield, but how much time he gets on the field remains to be seen. The 22-year-old, who plays box-to-box football, is a highly-touted prospect with excellent ball awareness.

He is physically powerful and will have a significant influence on the pitch under Carlo Ancelotti, who is known for grooming young players, Vinicius Junior is an example. Aurelien Tchouameni is a sort of player that requires coaching and will demonstrate his worth on the field.

This season, the Frenchman has played 50 games for his club and country, scoring five goals and assisting on three occasions.
