This time we are going to discuss the four likely teams to qualify for the semi-finals. The super 12's are divided into two groups, group A and group B. Group A consists of England, Australia, New Zealand, and Afghanistan while group B consists of India, Pakistan, South Africa, and Bangladesh.
So which teams are likely contenders for the semi-finals of the T20 World cup?
Let us start with the defending champions - Australia. The Men in Green has all the momentum in the world coming into this T20 World cup as they won the previous edition of the T20 world cup in UAE an year ago. Australia's star-studded line-up and the fact that they are playing in home conditions. Having players like David Warner, Glenn Maxwell, Tim David, and Mitchell Starc, the Aussies look to add another ICC trophy to their cabinet.
The other likely team to join the Aussies in the Semi-finals is the English side. England are the white ball giants and their aggressive playing style has won them a 50-over World cup, runners-up in the 2016 T20 World cup, and semi-finalists in the 2021 World cup. England's explosive batting and versatile bowling options make them a team to watch out for this coming World cup. With players like Jos Buttler, Alex Hales, Liam Livingston, and Moeen Ali, England look to become 2-time T20 champions.
Moving on to group B, the team to most likely top the table is India. The Odds are against India going into the T20 World cup as two of their star players, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of the squad. But the bench strength of the Indian team doesn't stop them from reaching the Semis. With players like Axar Patel, Deepak Chahar, and Mohammad Siraj coming into the group to join Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Hardik Pandya, the Indian team are sure contenders for the Semi-finals.
The team to join India in the semis are their arch-rivals, Pakistan. Pakistan were the Dark Horses going into the last T20 World Cup. No one expected them to beat India by 10 wickets, not lose a single match in the league stage and reach the Semi-finals. Pakistan have a well-balanced team and a strong bowling and batting department. With players like Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Haris Rauf, and Mohammad Nawaz, Pakistan are strong contenders to enter the Semi-finals and maybe go all the way and win the whole thing!
