Top 5 Indian batters with most sixes in T20I cricket
India have established themselves as one of the most successful T20I teams in cricket history. With 170 victories to their name, they hold the record for the most wins in the format, and their impressive win/loss ratio of 2.394 is the best among all Test-playing nations.
The Men in Blue are also among an elite group of teams — alongside West Indies and England — to have lifted the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup trophy twice.
India’s dominance in the shortest format has been built largely on the brilliance of their star-studded batting lineup. Over the years, Indian batters have thrilled fans around the world with explosive stroke play, breathtaking sixes, and unforgettable match-winning performances.
In this article, let’s take a look at the top five Indian batters who have hit the most sixes in T20I cricket.
5. Hardik Pandya – 96

Hardik Pandya made his T20I debut in 2016 and quickly established himself as India’s go-to seam-bowling all-rounder. His T20I career reached its peak in 2024, when he delivered outstanding all-round performances during the ICC T20 World Cup, playing a key role in helping India lift the trophy.
With the bat, Pandya has showcased his explosive power, smashing 96 sixes in just 94 T20I innings so far.
4. KL Rahul – 99

Once a regular feature in India’s T20I lineup, KL Rahul has now fallen out of favour in the shortest format. Between 2016 and 2022, he played 72 T20Is, usually batting in the top three, and hit 99 sixes in 68 innings.
However, after the 2022 T20 World Cup, Rahul was dropped from the squad as his approach was seen as outdated for modern T20 cricket, with critics pointing to his lack of intent and a strike rate that didn’t keep up with the evolving game.
3. Virat Kohli – 124

Virat Kohli is widely regarded as the greatest batter in men’s T20 World Cup history — the only player ever to win the Man of the Tournament award twice in the competition.
After leading India to victory in the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup, where he played a match-winning knock in the final, Kohli announced his retirement from T20 internationals. He bowed out with an incredible record — 4,188 runs in T20Is at an average of 48 and a strike rate of 137, including one century and 38 half-centuries.
Over the course of his 117 T20I innings, he also cleared the ropes 124 times, cementing his legacy as one of the finest and most consistent performers the format has ever seen.
2. Suryakumar Yadav – 150

One of the best T20 batters in the world, Suryakumar Yadav has been nothing short of sensational in his T20I career so far. With an average of 37 and a strike rate of 164, he’s redefined India’s approach to the shortest format. In just 86 innings, he has smashed 150 sixes — the second-most by an Indian and the fifth-most in the world.
Suryakumar announced his arrival on the international stage in 2021 with a stunning statement — hooking Jofra Archer for six on the very first ball he faced in T20Is. Since then, he hasn’t stopped sending the ball into the stands.
1. Rohit Sharma – 205

Former India captain Rohit Sharma is widely regarded as the greatest six-hitter in T20 International cricket. Across 151 innings, he smashed 205 sixes — the most by any player in T20Is and the only batter to cross the 200-sixes mark in the format.
Rohit ended his T20I career on the perfect note, leading India to victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 before announcing his retirement from the format. He finished with 4,231 runs and five centuries, the joint-highest number of T20I hundreds alongside Glenn Maxwell.
