Manchester United sign Bruno Fernandes from Sporting CP

The Red Devils have at last laid their hands on their main target after months of speculation. He has become the third Portuguese player after Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani to arrive at Old Trafford from Lisbon.                                

The much long anticipated deal was announced on Thursday and almost sent the Manchester United fanbase into frenzy. The transfer fee reported to be 47 Million Euros was accepted after Fernandes agreed personal terms and also passed the medical test successfully.                                                                     

                                                                                                                                                                  The Portuguese has signed a five-and-a-half year contract with the club with a choice of extending it upto one year. Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solksjaer seemed to be very pleased on signing one of his favorite players and he stated that,

"We have been tracking Bruno for a long period and everyone here has been tremendously impressed with all his attributes and what he will bring to the squad"

"Most importantly he is a terrific human being with a great personality and his leadership qualities are all to see"

The 25-year old was very much happy on sealing his 'dream' move to the club. He was very ecstatic and stated that,

"My love of Manchester United really started when I used to watch Cristiano Ronaldo play and ever since then I have been a big fan of this great club," Fernandes said in a club statement.

"For me to now play for Manchester United feels incredible, I have worked hard to get to this moment and I can promise the fans that I will give everything for the badge to help bring us more success and trophies.

"I want to thank Sporting for everything they have done for me. It is surreal to hear the nice words that have been said about me from players that used to play for this team.

"A massive thank you to Ole and everyone at Manchester United for the trust they have shown in me and I can't wait to start to repay that on the pitch."

Well,we all know the miraculous story of his compatriot Ronaldo. The legendary forward established himself as one of the world's very best while playing for United. 

Fernandes proves to be an excellent option for Ole to exploit his resources in attack. Despite being a midfielder, he is also clinical in front of goal and is a voracious box-to-box player. 

He has also been handed the No 18 jersey which was previously worn by Legendary midfielder Paul Scholes. It seems the whole footballing world can not wait to see the player to feature for his new team.
