Wenger hopes Arteta makes Arsenal play the "old way"

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that Mikel Arteta can get back the club to where it was, including its culture and style of playing. Wenger admitted that sometimes he feels tensed about Arsenal and he hopes to Arsenal in a much better place than what they are at now.

Arteta came in place of Unai Emery in December last year, with Wenger’s retirement coming at the end of the 2017-18 season. However, the 70-year-old keeps himself updated regularly and said that he hopes that Arteta brings back Arsenal’s possession-based style.

While talking to talkSPORT, he said, “I worry about the club still a lot and I watch all of the games. I believe there is a culture in the way to play football at Arsenal that I want to be respected. And I hope Mikel can get that back.” As it stands, Arsenal sit on the ninth spot in the Premier League.

Wenger was also asked about the quality Liverpool have shown these past two seasons and Wenger feels that Jurgen Klopp’s men are champions irrespective of whether the season is finished or not. “Jurgen has done extremely well because that club has waited 30 years for this title. And when you think they have such a massive difference to the second team, Manchester City, it’s absolutely massive.”

“No matter what England will decide, Liverpool are champions in everyone’s head.” The Premier League date is yet to be announced and everyone is eager to see their club fighting for a European spot unless someone supports City or Liverpool.

A recent report suggested that some clubs have reported against the restart claiming that playing at a neutral venue can cost them more than relegation. Some decisions are yet to be made but teams are still instructed to resume training, however, with proper care taken and regulations being followed.
