The 2015/16 season witnessed a new sensation come up from nowhere as Jamie Vardy rose to the occasion and proved to the world that if you grab the opportunity as it arrives, have conviction, and the passion to be your 100% then no one can stop you.

The Leicester City number nine played a pivotal role in the club's only title-winning season. But do you know how his journey started?

Jamie Vardy represented Sheffield Wednesday in his early days, and he was released by the club when he was only 16.  Vardy then kicked off his senior career with Stocksbridge Park Steels and managed to earn a spot in their first team in 2007 before parting for a Northern Premier League club FC Halifax Town in 2010.

The striker then signed for the Conference Premier League club Fleetwood Town in August 2011, scoring 31 goals for them. Finally, in May 2012, Vardy joined the Foxes, Leicester City, for a non-league record transfer fee and helped the team claim the Championship trophy.

For Halifax Town, Jamie Vardy scored 28 goals in 41 displays, followed by 34 goals in the Conference Premier League for Fleetwood Town. He then scored 21 goals in 70 appearances throughout the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons before moving to the Premier League.

As things stand, Vardy has a total of 206 career goals in 420 appearances, ideal evidence of how Leicester City #9  has progressed over the years.

Jamie Vardy Style of Play

As mentioned with perfection from the above video, Jamie Vardy's strengths lie in his pace and quick movement behind the last line of defense. Under Claudio Ranieri in the 2015/16 title-winning season, Leicester City were reliant on the Riyad Mahrez-Jamie Vardy combination with direct counter-attacks from their own half resulting in Riyad Mahrez releasing pin-point through pass for Jamie Vardy.

Under current manager, Brendan Rodgers, Leicester City are more confident on the ball and prefer to build up their attacks higher up the pitch.

In the current system, you would observe Vardy spending more time in the opponent's penalty area to latch onto the pull-back pass or a cross from one of his fellow midfielders.

Jamie Vardy has an exquisite first-touch, he can shoot the ball well, and his technique to striker the ball in the air is phenomenal too. Vardy's work rate is second to none, his defensive work is astonishing and there is nothing you could hate about Vardy. The Leicester City forward never seems to stop and is a constant nuisance for the defenders.
