NBA Free Agency: Suns, Eric Gordan Agrees To Deal
Free agent guard Eric Gordan has agreed to deal with the Phoenix Suns, league sources told The Athletic on Sunday. Eric Gordan had narrowed his choices down to Phionex, Golden State Warriors had even considered a reunion in Houston as per the sources.
The Los Angeles Clippers waived Eric Gordan on June 28 instead of guaranteeing his contract for the next season. He would have been owed $20.9 million for 2023-2024, Eric Gordan has averaged 12.4 points, 2.7 assists, and 1.9 rebounds in 69 games, and started in 58 games with the Clippers and Rockets last season. He shot 44.6 percent from the floor.
The Phoenix Suns are Gordan's fourth NBA team, having played for the Clippers twice, the Rockets, and the New Orleans Pelicans, A 2008 first-round pick, Gordan won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award in 2017 with the Rockets.
The Phoenix Suns will likely use Gordan off the bench with Devin Booker and Bradley Beal already occupying guard spots. That said, Gordan will almost certainly be playing a boatload of minutes.
Having a player of Gordan’s caliber would help the Phoenix Suns in many ways such as shooting, and relieving pressure off of Bookers.
Eric Gordon brings everything together, He is one of the best shooters when it comes to how situationally versatile he is. To expand on that, Gordan often takes 3s beyond the 3-point line.
The Suns went all into building a win–now team this summer, after dealing former all-star Chris Paul and now adding Gordan’s the Latest piece of what they hope is a championship puzzle.
