Houston Rockets Secure Dillon Brooks in NBA Free Agency
NBA Free Agency : Rockets Reportedly Land Dillon Brooks
Dillon Brooks is reportedly moving on from Memphis after spending his first 6 seasons with the team, Per multiple reports, Brooks has agreed to a four-year, $80 million deal with the Houston Rockets. Brooks is joining the Rockets via a sign-and-trade deal. Brooks, 27 has averaged 14.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.6 assist this past season with Grizzles which were on second seed in the western conference, Brooks has averaged 14.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists since 2017. Aside from his defense, Brooks may have also been known for the villain role he took on against opponents like Lebron James, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson in playoff series throughout the years.
Brooks led the NBA with 18 technical fouls this season, earning a pair of one-game suspensions in the process, “The media making me a villain the fans making me a villain and then that just creates a whole different persona on me,” Brooks told reporters in late April".
The Houston Rockets provide Brooks with a new home and a different challenge. The 27 years old is going from back-to-back 50-win seasons in Memphis to a rebuild that is still attempting to get off the ground after 3 miserable years. Houston's future is built on the future of Alperen Sengun, Jalen Green, Jabari Smith Jr., and Amen Thompson, The team had already brought in a new head coach in Ime Udoka, Landed former Toronto Raptors guard Fred Vanvleet on a three-year $130 million deal, added former Phionex suns big man Jock Landale and traded for veteran Patty Mills.
Brooks gives the Rockets a likely starter at small forward and a defensive presence the team has sorely lacked in the recent past.
